It's all above board - they were sourced from the (US) National Library Services for the Blind and Print Disabled. Julian May had been apparently against audio versions of her books, but it sounds like she said 'yes, ok' for the NLS. 😊

Sadly, audio versions of books 2 - 4 of the Exiles saga will remain a pipe dream.
