Thoughts on Avatar:The Last Airbender

So, I'm watching S1 of Avatar: The Last Airbender for the first time (yeah, I know I'm behind) and the antagonist and his slightly-daft uncle are giving off Marc and Brother Anatoly vibes to me. Or is that just me?
