The Saga of Rereading Epics have posted their latest podcast about the Exiles / Milieu series, 'The Metaconcert'. Uncle Rogi continues to be a 'lovely old crank'. The podcast did remind me that things got a little grimdark at times for some characters in this book. The author has a way of pulling the carpet from under you with her final sentences of her books too. I always remember the horror I felt reading the last sentence of 'Diamond Mask' (the second book of the Galactic Milieu trilogy).
I did like it when Unifex disguised himself as someone a bit similar to Uncle Rogi in order to get close to the villain as a 'trusted' associate. Heh.

A time travel TV show that fans of Julian May might like is one called 'Beforeigners' - a police procedural produced by HBO Europe (which I don't have, boo) set in Norway. It's about people from ancient Norway popping up in the present and learning how to get along with others (or not?). There's only one season so far but there's plans for a second one.

The 'six million years' is a giveaway and the mention of how a sense of humour probably stopped Unifex going nuts at times.

Definitely a give-away, and his comment to Gerry shows Unifex's empathetic side, no doubt developed over the millennia. Given the dangers of changing the past, I am surprised he gave the warning.
The one I enjoy the most is Unifex stopping young Marc from attempting to return home from Concilium Orb in order to rescue Rogi and Teresa. Any event that jolts Marc's immense self-confidence is fun to read, especially when it's himself doing the jolting!
